Grayslake Kids Dentist Talks About ADA Decision to Use Social Media to Share How Social Media Impacted His Practice

The release says the point of using social media is that it allows them to be closer to their audience and be more relevant to them, so they can serve their needs.
Affiliated Dental Specialists’ five dentists have been using Facebook and Twitter since June 2009, when Dr. Cameron Wagner joined the practice full time. Dr. David Maddox, Grayslake children’s dentist, says they are currently active on five social networking platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Yelp, Tumblr and Foursquare. Wagner has also registered the practice on Google maps and Yahoo.
The Grayslake orthodontics and pediatric dentistry practice has received positive reviews from patients on Yelp. The site is users’ reviews of local businesses and a rating system from 1 to 5. In early June, Affiliated Dental Specialists has a 4 star rating for their Gurnee and a 5 for the Vernon Hills’ location.
“The ADA finally caught on to what small businesses like dental offices already know-that social media is an excellent way to communicate with patients and potential patients,” says Maddox, who works at a practice that provides braces. Grayslake has several dental practices and small businesses with Facebook and Twitter accounts, but Wagner says the problem is that they are not using them effectively.
Dr. Gary Klein, who is an orthodontist, says, “We try to use them to keep our patients and colleagues up to date about happening in our practice, exciting events in our community and news about orthodontics and pediatric dentistry.”
Dr. James Orbon, a pediatric dentist, enjoys seeing patients and assistants active on their social media sites and says they are a good forum for patients to learn about Affiliated Dental Specialists.
“It is nice to see patients engaged with our office outside of their normal wire check appointments and cleanings,” says Dr. Gary Klein, who is a provider of Invisalign. Grayslake patients of the practice have given positive feedback about the practice’s social media networking and so far, no negative feedback.
They say they enjoy getting updates about the practice through the social media sites. Wagner, Grayslake pediatric dentist says, “These sites are less invasive than putting clients on an email subscription list. Through Facebook and Twitter patients can find out about practice-related news on their own time.”
